After 4 years and $300 billion of dollar-denominated payments, the banking giant’s blockchain-based settlement system for institutional clients can now process euro payments.

SG-FORGE, the crypto-focused subsidiary of France’s Societe Generale, is launching its Euro-pegged stablecoin, EUR CoinVertible, on the Ethereum public blockchain.

The European Central Bank chose five entities, including US internet behemoth Amazon, to prototype the frontend of digital euro project. The work will not be remunerated.
