In February 2022, Apple introduced the Tap to Pay feature, which allows you to use the iPhone as a payment terminal, also it can be used to conduct transactions with cryptocurrency.

Apple has announced the introduction of Tap to Pay, which turns the iPhone into a fast and convenient payment terminal — it will be available for all smartphones, starting with the XS model and later versions.

Payments will be accepted using a special iOS app: when placing an order, the buyer simply needs to present his iPhone or Apple Watch in close proximity to pay using Apple Pay, a contactless card or other digital wallets next to the seller’s iPhone, and the payment will be safely completed using NFC technology. Tap to Pay does not require additional hardware.

There is no information about official support of cryptocurrency from Apple. Tap to Pay will work with the same cards as Apple Pay, i.e. Coinbase Card, Crypto.com Visa Card, and other similar cryptocurrency payment solutions will be supported. There is no direct payment with cryptocurrency — conversion is done through Coinbase Card and Crypto.com.

Apple planned to launch the Tap to Pay feature only with Stripe service, but then they decided to expand the list of services.

Tap to Pay is a revolution for the US market, where some large networks do not accept Apple Pay. However, since February there has been no news about this new feature. Neither was there anything on the new iPhone 14 and Apple Watch presentation on September 7th. We are waiting for news.
